Song Poh Lan

Mdm Song currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Governors, Director, and Head of the Chinese Faculty at Mahans International School, showcasing her extensive leadership in cultural education. She earned her Master’s degree from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, and holds a professional certificate in copyediting from the University of California, San Diego, reflecting her academic strength and linguistic expertise. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) at the University of Help, further enhancing her professional capacity in educational leadership and organisational development.
She has actively promoted traditional Chinese education and culture throughout her distinguished career. As an Administrator and Honorary Secretary at Amitabha Buddhist Society Malaysia, she significantly expanded the society’s infrastructure. She initiated impactful classical Chinese reading movements, enhancing community engagement by training teachers and organising cultural activities. Her international experience includes coordinating and moderating significant interfaith and artistic forums, such as UNESCO celebrations in Paris, interfaith summits in Australia and Malaysia, TEDx events, and dialogues at the Vatican.
Additionally, Mdm Song is an accomplished translator and editor, contributing notably to publications like The Sayings of Master Chin Kung, The Governing Principles of Ancient China, and Buddhism 360, facilitating cultural dialogue worldwide. At Mahans International School, she has adeptly navigated operational challenges, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, consistently promoting a multicultural, ethically grounded educational environment. Her efforts are directed toward nurturing global awareness and intercultural understanding among educators and students.

Chen Mew Soon

Mr. Chan graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a master’s degree. In the early years when the Children’s Classical Text Recitation Movement was launched in Ipoh, Malaysia, he started promoting the teaching of traditional values using classical text. He taught in associations and schools for many years, and is currently a lecturer at Malaysian Han Studies.

Lim Sun Sun

With a lifelong dedication to preserving traditional Chinese culture in Malaysia and abroad, she has received numerous honors including the ‘Model Educator’ Award, Special Honor for Cultural Preservation, and Meizhou’s Top 10 Philanthropists recognition. As former instructor of classical poetry/music in the Yu He Program and facilitator of parent reading circles at Malaysian Han Learning College, she now serves as Senior Lecturer specializing in Di Zi Gui (Standards for Being a Good Student), Chang Li Ju Yao (Essentials of Etiquette), Liao Fan’s Four Lessons, and Analects Commentary, combining pedagogical expertise with cultural stewardship.

Chin Poh Mui

Ms Chin is the vice head of international student affairs, academic affairs administrator, and CEO of the office secretary at Malaysian Han Studies. She has a strong background in academic operations and public relations, so she is key in coordinating student services and supporting institutional management. She holds a Bachelor’s (Honours) in Computing from the University of London. She has accumulated over three years of teaching experience in Traditional Chinese Core Values, reflecting her dedication to cultural education. Chin Poh Mui is also currently pursuing a Master’s in Education Management and Leadership at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UNITAR), further advancing her expertise in educational administration and leadership.

Woo Sew Moi

She participated in classical Chinese literature courses and the Qunshu Zhiyao (Essentials of Governance from Ancient Texts) program instructed by Teacher Tsai Li Hsu at the Chung Hua Cultural Education Centre (M), where she completed a year-long foundational immersion program. She has been lecturing on the Analects at Malaysian Han Studies (MaHANS) since 2017.

Chek Teck Lee

She was a retired nurse. Joined the teaching team of the “Dizigui Class” in 2023, and has been serving as a homeroom teacher since 2024.

Teh Bee Chen

She is a yoga instructor for both adults and children. From 2022 to 2023, she studied Di Zi Gui (Standards for Being a Good Student and Child) under Teacher Zeng in the Di Zi Gui Class (Parents Class). In 2024, she joined the teaching team of the Di Zi Gui Class, and since 2025, she has served as homeroom teacher.

Soh Theu Kim

With 32 years of distinguished service in education as a primary school teacher,she served as the Homeroom Teacher for the Di Zi Gui (Standards for Being a Good Student and Child) children class.

Yong Tin Juan

Madam Yong is a retired school principal with 37 years of experience in the education field, having served as a primary school teacher, vice-principal, and principal. From 2022 to 2025, she served as the Class Teacher for the Di Zi Gui (Standards for Being a Good Student and Child) class.

Yong Soon Keong

Mr Yong holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, majoring in Control and Instrumentation. From 2022 to 2024, he studied Di Zi Gui (Standards for Being a Good Student and Child) under the guidance of Teacher Zeng, participating actively in the Parents Class. Demonstrating strong commitment to character education and Confucian values, Yong Soon Keong began serving as the Homeroom Teacher for the Lower Secondary Class in the Di Zi Gui program in 2025, where he continues to guide and nurture students in the principles of moral cultivation and respectful conduct.

Yong Chai Ching

She holds an ACCA CAT accounting degree but returned to family life for the sake of her children and is currently a homemaker. In 2024, she joined the teaching team of the Di Zi Gui Class.

Tai Kon Lan

Madam Tai is a retired teacher with 37 years of experience in the education sector, having served as a primary school teacher (Chinese vernacular school). Since 2023, [he/she] has been serving as anTeaching Assistant for the Di Zi Gui (Standards for Being a Good Student and Child) class.

Yap Chew Yong

With 37 years of experience in education, she served as a primary school teacher. From 2023 to 2025,she worked as a Teaching Assistant for the Di Zi Gui (Standards for Being a Good Student and Child) class.

Chieng Dee Huat

Mr. Chieng holds a Bachelor’s Degree (with Honors) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Currently employed at a domestic steel manufacturing company, he is responsible for production planning, energy management, and environmental initiatives. With expertise in energy conservation and efficiency improvement, he is dedicated to assisting enterprises in optimizing production efficiency, enhancing energy performance, and driving low-carbon transformation, striving to achieve corporate sustainable development goals. Joined the teaching team of the Di Zi Gui Class in 2025.

Tee Ah Yan

Housewife. 2022–Present: Serving as Class Assistant for the Children’s Group in the Di Zi Gui Class.

Quak Kuei Yean

Housewife. She is joined the teaching team of the Di Zi Gui Class in 2025, serving as an teaching assistant for the Children’s Class.

Chan Phaik See

Mdm Chan has extensive experience in music education and traditional Chinese cultural teaching. From 1996 to 2006, she taught music to children, parents, and adults at a music academy, nurturing musical appreciation across all age groups. Between 2006 and 2018, she served as a Di Zi Gui (Standards for Being a Good Student and Child) teacher at the National Service Camp in Penang, where she guided youth in moral education based on traditional values. Since 2008, Ms. Chan has been the Head of Teaching at the Amitabha Buddhist Society (Penang) for the Di Zi Gui Family-Parent Cultivation Class. In this role, she is dedicated to promoting traditional Chinese culture through Di Zi Gui education. She has been actively involved in developing and training teachers to ensure the continued transmission of these core values.

Khoo Sui Siang

Mr. Khoo is a certified teacher at Malaysian Han Studies, holding a valid teaching permit issued by Jabatan Pendidikan Melaka. He earned his Bachelor’s in Mechatronics Engineering from Monash University, Australia, between 2008 and 2014. During his university years, Mr. Khoo began his journey into moral cultivation by studying Di Zi Gui (Standards for Being a Good Student and Child) in 2012–2013 and seeking the company of virtuous individuals. He later deepened his exploration of values and service by participating in Bible study (2013–2014) and joining the Tzu Chi Foundation (2014–2015). His passion for practical skills led him to pursue a certificate in Commercial Cookery (2015–2016). Upon returning to Malacca in 2016, Mr. Khoo joined the Mahans food and beverage team, where he contributed from 2018 to 2020. In 2020, he transferred to the Academic Department, where he continues to teach and live by traditional wisdom. Guided by a profound respect for ancestral teachings, Mr. Khoo is dedicated to integrating Confucian values into education and nurturing students with principles that foster self-cultivation and social harmony.

Guo Yu-Mei

Mdm Guo began her journey in traditional Chinese culture in 2014, developing a deep interest in moral education and classical teachings. In 2017, she joined Malaysian Han Studies (MAHANS) as an accompanying mother, supporting her child’s education while continuing her learning. Her dedication to nurturing young minds led her to join the Early Childhood Education Department at MAHANS in 2022, where she served as a child caregiver. In 2023, she further expanded her role in education by becoming a teaching assistant in the Di Zi Gui Family-Parent Cultivation Class, where she supports teaching and student development rooted in traditional values.
